Be mindful of dangerous trash and broken glass, and have fun. There aren't any lifeguards on this lake, either.

Love to fish there

Many of the sunsets you see taken by me on Google Maps were captured on days when there was misfortune in the news.

Great trail, good spots for fishing. Beautiful nature.

You'll see house boats, pleasure boats, fishing boats and watercraft. Waterfowl swoop down and fish right in front of you. Pretty laid back. Meet all kinds of people, and they enjoy the place peaceably.

There are snakes that live in the rocks that lead into the water. Big ones. If you are the first people out there, LOOK AROUND. Please.

My kids have grown up beneath the Lonely Water Oak at "Da Spot." They were grade-school kids when we first parked along this wayside in the middle of the curviest part of the highway. They learned to swim there. I have hundreds of sunset photos of it. You can see my kids' progression in the multitude of pictures I've taken. They are the place all our dogs live now--in pictures by the lake. John H. Kerr Lake. I've got video out there as well; all with a constant lake breeze burring unapologetically in the audio.

Very peaceful, relaxing, and breath taking views!

It was just us at first. We've had many a picnic and a cookout ourselves. Sometimes there are giant fish carcasses like the ones you see on Spongebob. The boys met some girls there. I watched them grow up over two or three summers. We've been a constant in a flow of families over the years, and that is nice. There's a veteran who comes and watches the sunset. He is a relatively young man, but he has an air about him that I recall from the Viet Nam war days of my childhood. The sunset never fails him, though.
